From the Block to Bel Air – Jennifer Lopez is now the proud owner of a lavish Los Angeles luxury home. The singer's new mansion came with an initial market price of nearly $40 million, but Jenny from the Block struck a deal to hand over $28 million and call the L.A. neighborhood of Bel Air home.
Lopez bought the eight-acre estate from actress Sela Ward and her husband, a private equity entrepreneur. Sela and Howard purchased the Bel Air property over a decade ago for $3.8 million and has since reimagined the 1940 Samuel Marx home, with French country style inspiration.
Lopez's new purchase comes with 14,000 square feet of living space, including the property's main house, two guest houses, a stream, a vineyard, a swimming pool and a 100-seat outdoor amphitheater.
Lopez's visitors will cross a small covered bridge to get to her new digs – and with seven bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, there's enough room to stay the night.
Featuring a rich marriage of European style and American comfort, the home comes packed with extras suited for the stars. Complete with a massage room, 30-seat indoor theater and pub, Lopez will have plenty of options when it comes to taking time off to relax.
The house – which hit the market last September – is complemented by a man-made infinity pool complete with beach entry, a miniature golf course and a stone cabana.
The grounds can be described as "a scenic private park, featuring intricate walking paths and trails that lead to an assortment of private verandas, stone terraces and waterfalls that feed into surrounding koi ponds."
While Lopez is the newest star to join the quiet comfort of L.A.'s Bel Air neighborhood, the Shades of Blue star is no stranger to the area. In fact, she's still trying to sell a home of her own there.
In 2010, Lopez and then-husband Marc Anthony purchased a nine-bedroom Hidden Hills home overlooking the San Fernando Valley and San Gabriel Mountains. In early 2015, they listed the three-acre estate for $17 million.
With no bites on the line, Lopez and Anthony have since knocked the price down several times, but to no avail. As of spring, of this year, the asking price sits at $12.5 million.
Despite the trend of high-profile Hollywood homes remaining on the market, Lopez shouldn't have too much to be worried about in terms of finances. As a working singer, actor and television personality, Lopez brings in $30 million per year and commands a net worth of $320 million.
