What is Vanessa Paradis's Net Worth?

Vanessa Paradis is a French singer, model, and actress who has a net worth of $100 million. Vanessa Paradis became a child star at 14 with the worldwide success of her single "Joe le taxi." She has since received numerous awards and accolades for her singing and acting performances.

She recorded her first single, "La Magie des surprises-parties," in 1983 and performed it at an Italian festival in 1985. Although "La Magie des surprises-parties" was not a hit, it paved the way for the song with which she became internationally famous, "Joe le taxi," in 1987, when she was 14 years old. It was ranked number 1 in France for 11 weeks and, unusually for a song sung in French, was released in the United Kingdom, where it reached number 3 on the charts.

In 1992, she moved to the United States to work with Lenny Kravitz, whom she also dated at the time. Paradis started working on a new album in English, a language in which she was now fluent. Written and produced by Kravitz, the album, titled Vanessa Paradis, topped the French chart and briefly made the UK listings at number 45.

From 1998 to 2012, Paradis was in a relationship with American actor Johnny Depp. They have a daughter, Lily-Rose Melody Depp (born in 1999), and a son, John Christopher "Jack" Depp III (born in 2002). Rumors of a separation began surfacing as early as January 2012. Depp's representative officially announced their breakup in June of 2012. Despite never being officially married, Johnny Depp announced that he planned to give half his fortune to Vanessa Paradis as a settlement anyway.

Early Life

Paradis was born on December 22, 1972 in Paris, France. Her parents, André and Corrinne, both worked as interior designers. She began singing at a young age, in large part because her uncle was a record producer, Didier Pain. He helped her appear on the local television program, "L'École des fans," which was a talent show for child singers.

Career

After this early start to her career, Paradis recorded her first single, "La Magie des surprises-parties," in 1983. Though the single was not a hit, it helped her gain some recognition and set the stage for her next single, "Joe le taxi," which became an international hit. The song was released in 1987 when Paradis was 14. It was number one in France for 11 weeks and also reached the third spot on the charts in the United Kingdom. Paradis left high school at the age of 16 in order to pursue her singing career.

In 1990, she released an album which was written by French composer, Serge Gainsbourg. She also starred in the film "Noce Blanche" the same year and received the Cesar Award for Most Promising Actress. The following year, in 1991, she appeared in an advertisement for Chanel to promote their fragrance, Coco.

In 1992, Paradis decided to move to the United States because she had started dating musician Lenny Kravitz. Kravitz was helping produce Paradis's self-titled album, her first album, which was all in English. The album, "Vanessa Paradis," topped the charts in France. She announced an international tour in March of 1993, during which she performed in France, England, and Canada. While touring, she recorded another album of her live performances called "Live," which she released in February of 1994. She also continued working in film and made the movie "Elisa" under the direction of Jean Becker. The film was a massive success in France.

In 1997, Paradis starred in "Un amour de sorciere" along with Jeanne Moreau and Jean Reno. She then filmed "Une chance sur deux" with Alain Delon and Jean-Paul Belmondo. In March 1999, she appeared in the black and white film, "La fille sur le Pont." In 2000, she released her fourth studio album, "Bliss." She also appeared as herself in the documentary film, "Lost in La Mancha" in 2002.

In 2004, Paradis appeared in a campaign for Chanel to promote their handbags and did so again in 2005. She began working on a new album during this time as well. "Divinidylle" was released in 2007 and began a tour to promote the album a few months later. The album was well-received, and she won two Les Victoires de la Musique awards for the album in February 2008. In 2008, she also modeled for Miu Miu and then started working on an acoustic album. "Une nuit à Versailles" was released in November of 2010, along with a set of DVDs called "Anthologie," which included recordings of rare live performances by Paradis from 1987 until 2007. She was also named the face of Chanel's new lipstick, Rouge Coco, in 2010, as well as the face of their new handbag, Ranger. Around this time, she embarked on another international tour, which included stops in the United States, Turkey, and other parts of Europe.

In 2011, Paradis had the starring role in the film "Café de Flore," by Canadian film director Jean-Marc Vallee. She portrays a single mother of a child with Down syndrome. For her performance, she won a Genie Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2012 Genie Awards.

In May of 2013, Paradis released a new album called "Love Songs," produced by French singer and producer Benjamin Biolay. A number of different artists contributed to the songwriting of the album, including Johnny Depp, Lily-Rose Deepp, Mickael Furnon, and Adrien Gallo. One of the singles from the album, "Mi amor," was chosen for the television advertising campaign for the Chloe perfume, "Love Story." In 2014, she appeared in "Sous les jupes des filles" and then in "Yoga Hosers" in 2016 alongside her daughter, Lily-Rose. She was also named a member of the main competition jury of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

In 2018, Paradis released her seventh studio album, "Les Sources."

Personal Life

When Paradis was 15, she started dating 26-year-old Florent Pagny, a French singer. They broke up in 1991 after around four years of dating. In 1992, she started dating Lenny Kravitz, who also produced her self-titled album the same year. They were together until 1997. She then started a relationship with actor Stanislas Merhar until 1998.

In 1998, Paradis began what would become a long-term relationship with actor Johnny Depp. They had a daughter together, Lily-Rose, in 1999 and a son, John, in 2002. They then broke up in 2012. In May of 2014, Paradis confirmed that she was dating French singer Benjamin Biolay. They remained together until May of 2015.
