MLB Career
Hanley Ramirez played in the Red Sox's farm system before making his major league debut with the club on September 20, 2005. He was promptly traded to the Florida Marlins the same year, where he played until 2012. During July of 2012, Ramirez was dealt to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He played with the Dodgers through 2014 when he made a return to the Boston Red Sox on a four-year, $88 million deal with a fifth year vesting option worth $22 million with plans to play him in left field after having only played shortstop and third base in his career. His second stint with the team lasted until 2018 when he was released while making the highest salary of his career. In February 2019, Ramirez signed a minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians with an invitation to spring training camp. Hanley only played in 16 games with the squad before being designated for assignment in April. He elected free agency in April 2019 and hasn't played in the league since.
