Mixtapes
Wright began his professional music career as Lil Herb, and released the song "Kill Shit" with fellow rapper Lil Bibby. Going by G Herbo, he released his debut mixtape, "Welcome to Fazoland," in early 2014. Named after Fazon Robinson, a friend who was killed by gun violence in Chicago, the mixtape was widely acclaimed. At the end of 2014, G Herbo surprise-released his second mixtape, "Pistol P Project." The next year, he released "Ballin Like I'm Kobe" and signed to Cinematic Music Group. G Herbo released his fourth mixtape, "Strictly 4 My Fans," in 2016. Unlike his previous mixtapes, which were free to download, this one was made to purchase. G Herbo's later mixtapes include "Sessions" and "No Limitations," the latter a collaboration with Lil Bibby.
Studio Albums
In 2017, G Herbo released his debut studio album, "Humble Beast." It included guest appearances by such rappers as Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, and Bump J. The album made it to number 21 on the Billboard 200. G Herbo went on to release the album "Swervo," a collaboration with record producer Southside featuring appearances from 21 Savage, Young Thug, and Chief Keef, among others. He next released "Still Swervin" in early 2019.
G Herbo had his biggest commercial hit to date with his third solo studio album, "PTSD," which was released in early 2020. Featuring appearances by Lil Durk, Chance the Rapper, Polo G, and many others, it debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200. Like most rappers, G Herbo has made numerous featured appearances on songs by other rappers. He has been featured on tracks by Christaun, Philthy Rich, Travis Marsh, King Deazel, Lil Eazzyy, B-Lovee, Roddy Ricch, Polo G, and Gunna, among others. Among his biggest commercial hits as a featured artist are Gunna's "IDK That Bitch" and the remix of Nardo Wick's "Who Want Smoke??" The latter, released in late 2021, also features Lil Durk and 21 Savage. It reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. G Herbo also had solid hits as a featured artist on Polo G's "Go Part 1" and King Von's "Facetime."
Criminal Offenses
Like many other rappers, G Herbo has gotten into serious legal trouble. In early 2018, he and two other men were arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a felony in Illinois. G Herbo pled guilty to the misdemeanor of unlawful use of a weapon, and was sentenced to two years of probation. He was arrested again in 2019 on a battery charge in Atlanta, Georgia for attacking the mother of his child. One week later, he was released on bail.
In late 2020, G Herbo and a number of associates were indicted in Massachusetts on 14 federal charges including wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. Allegedly, he and his associates had charged expensive trips, luxury villas, and private jets using stolen identification, amounting to millions of dollars over a four-year period. G Herbo has maintained his innocence in the alleged conspiracy.
Personal Life and Charity
From his previous relationship with Ariana Fletcher, G Herbo has a son named Yosohn. He has another son with his fiancée Taina Williams.
G Herbo has been involved in charity in his hometown of Chicago. Namely, he has contributed to the redevelopment of Anthony Overton Elementary School, and launched the mental health project Swervin' Through Stress.
