Andy Buckley is best known to television audiences for playing the role of David Wallace on the "The Office." Early Life

Andy Buckley was born in Salem, Massachusetts in February 1965. He went to Pine Crest School in Florida for high school, followed by Stanford University where he graduated in 1987.

Career

After college he moved to New York City to study acting. To make ends meet he worked odd jobs that included cleaning pools. He temporarily gave up acting in 2001 and attended a training session for an Investment Bank where he wound up working for more than a decade, ultimately transferring to the Los Angeles office. He continued acting in his free time but had to run every role, including scripts by corporate compliance. On the side he studied acting and improve at the Groundlings Theatre. In 1990 he landed his first professional acting job, with a role on the series "China Beach."

Before landing his star-marking role in "The Office," Andy made appearances in dozens of television episodes, films and even music videos. For example, he had a role in a 1997 music video for Reba McEntire.

In 2006 he landed the role of David Wallace on "The Office." At the time of his hiring, he was also working full-time as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch. His work in finance helped him land the gig because producers were attracted to the idea that he would have a native familiarity with the corporate world.

On the show Andy frequently sparred with Steve Carell's Michael Scott character.
