Early Life

Katherine Kelly Lang was born Katherine Kelly Wegeman on July 25, 1961, in Hollywood, California. Her mother, Judith Lang, is a former actress, and her father, Keith R. Wegeman, was a ski jumper who competed in the 1952 Winter Olympics. Sadly, Keith died of cancer in 1974 at the age of 44. Lang was just 13 years old when she lost her father, and she later became an ambassador for the charity Amgen's Breakaway From Cancer. She told "Soaps in Depth" in 2015, "My dad, my grandpa and my grandma all died from colon cancer, so I've seen what people go through. This charity helps people from the moment of their diagnosis all the way through their surviving it. About 1,500 people die of cancer every day in the United States alone, and you can imagine what that number would be world wide." Katherine's maternal grandfather, Charles Lang, was a cinematographer who earned 18 Academy Award nominations, winning for "A Farewell to Arms" in 1934. Katherine attended Beverly Hills High School.

Career

In 1979, Lang co-starred with Patrick Swayze, Scott Baio, Flip Wilson, and Maureen McCormick in the musical comedy "Skatetown, U.S.A.," then she appeared in the 1981 horror film "Evilspeak" and the 1982 TV movie "Desperate Lives." She guest-starred on "The Powers of Matthew Star" (1983), "Masquerade" (1983), "Happy Days" (1984), "Riptide" (1984), "Legmen" (1984), "Dreams" (1984), "Crazy Like a Fox" (1985), "The Fall Guy" (1986), "The Last Precinct" (1986), "The Magical World of Disney" (1986), and "Magnum, P.I." (1987), and she appeared in The Beach Boys' 1985 music videos for "Getcha Back" and "It's Gettin' Late." In 1986, Katherine had a recurring role as Annie on HBO's "1st & Ten," and the following year, she began starring as Brooke Logan on the CBS soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful." Personal Life

Katherine was married to Skott Snider from 1989 to 1995, and they had two sons together, Jeremy (born 1990) and Julian (born 1992). Lang wed Alex D'Andrea on July 2, 1997, and they welcomed daughter Zoe that year. The couple divorced in 2014, and during the marriage, Katherine was stepmother to Alex's daughter Danyelle, who was born in 1991. In May 2012, Lang underwent surgery after dislocating her foot and ankle while horseback riding. She shared the news on Instagram, posting photos of herself in the hospital with the caption, "It was a beautiful day! At around 16 miles I got off my horse to walk down a steep and very rocky trail to give her a break. At the bottom of the trail I tripped on a rock and my left foot took the pounding. My ankle and foot dislocated off to the left at a 90 degree angle to my leg. I pushed it back into place. It was so gross but I had to do it." Katherine revealed that she had surgery after X-rays showed that she had broken three bones in her ankle.
