What is David Duffield's Net Worth?
David Duffield is an American businessman who has a net worth of $14 billion. Building up his fortune in the software industry, Duffield is the co-founder and former chairman of PeopleSoft, as well as the co-founder and co-CEO at Workday, Inc. Once he received a Bachelor's degree and MBA from Cornell University, Duffield went on to establish two mainframe application software companies, Integral Systems (the first company to offer DB2-based human resource and accounting systems) and Information Associates (a firm that specialized in applications for the higher education market). Next, he spent some time working at IBM as a marketing representative and systems engineer, before he established the PeopleSoft in 1987. Under Duffield's guidance as CEO and board chairman, PeopleSoft rose to be the world's second-largest application software company.
After it was acquired by Oracle for $10 billion in January 2005, Duffield briefly withdrew from the software industry to get back at it few months later. In March 2005, David Duffield teamed up with former PeopleSoft vice chair and head of product strategy, Aneel Bhusri, to set up Workday. It's a company that provides financial management and human capital management software. Duffield still serves as co-chief executive along with Bhusri and he is also an avid philanthropist. Along with his wife, Cheryl, he formed Maddie's Fund in 1999 to support the animals' No-kill effort.
