What is Romeo Santos's Net Worth?

Romeo Santos is a Dominican-American singer who has a net worth of $40 million.

Romeo Santos rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the bachata group Aventura. Considered one of the most influential Latin groups in music history, Aventura released five studio albums and had such hit songs as "Cuándo Volverás," "Obsesión," "Un Beso," "Mi Corazoncito," "Por Un Segundo," and "Dile Al Amor." After the first breakup of the band in 2011, Santos embarked on a successful solo career.

In July 2014, Romeo Santos became one of only a few musical acts who has ever successfully sold out two shows at Yankee Stadium's 50,000 seats for a concert. That's an accomplishment that bands like Metallica, Pink Floyd and fellow hometown hero Jay-Z could not accomplish (technically Jay sold out Yankees stadium with Justin Timberlake).

Early Life

Romeo Santos was born on July 21, 1981 in the Bronx borough of New York City to a Puerto Rican mother and a Dominican father. He attended public school in the Bronx, and sang in his church choir.

Aventura

In 1993, brothers Lenny and Max Santos (no relation to Romeo) formed a band with their cousin called Banda Sueño. The cousin didn't stick around for long, prompting Lenny and Max to seek a new singer. They were eventually introduced to Romeo Santos, who subsequently brought on his cousin Henry. The four boys formed the band Los Tinellers, and performed locally in the Bronx. In 1995, the the group was discovered by manager Elvin Polanco, who helped the boys record their first studio album, "Trampa de Amor." The following year, Los Tinellers began working with manager Julio César García, who reinvented the group as Aventura. In 1998, the group signed with Premium Latin Music, and in 1999 released its debut album, "Generation Next." The album included six songs from "Trampa de Amor," including the hit "Cuándo Volverás." In 2002, Aventura released its second album, "We Broke the Rules," which launched the international hit single "Obsesión." The album was especially successful in France and Italy, where it peaked at number one.

Aventura's third studio album, "Love & Hate," came out in 2003. That was followed by the 2004 live album "Unplugged." Aventura went on to have its mainstream breakthrough in 2005 with the studio album "God's Project," which peaked at number five on the Top Latin Albums chart and launched such hit singles as "Ella y Yo" and "Un Beso." In 2007, the group sold out Madison Square Garden in New York, becoming the first bachata act to do so. The concert was turned into the live album "Kings of Bachata: Sold Out at Madison Square Garden"; a DVD of the concert was also released. Aventura released its fifth and final studio album, "The Last," in mid-2009. The album became the group's highest-charting release, peaking at number one on the Top Latin Albums chart and number five on the Billboard 200. It spawned the hit singles "Por Un Segundo," "All Up 2 You," "Su Veneno," and "Dile Al Amor." Aventura broke up in 2011, but later reunited for various concerts and tours. The group played its final concert in late 2021 in the Dominican Republic.

Solo Career

After Aventura broke up in 2011, Santos embarked on a solo career. He signed with Sony Music Latin and released his first solo album, "Fórmula, Vol. 1." The album was supported by the successful singles "You," "Mi Santa," "La Diabla," and "Promise," the lattermost featuring Usher. "Fórmula, Vol. 1" was a big hit, reaching number one on the Top Latin Albums chart and earning a Grammy Award nomination for Best Tropical Latin Album. In early 2012, Santos sold out three nights at Madison Square Garden on his The King Stays King tour; recordings of the concerts were subsequently released on a live album and DVD. He continued touring in 2013. In early 2014, Santos released his second solo studio album, "Fórmula, Vol. 2." Supported by the smash singles "Propuesta Indecente" and "Odio," the latter featuring Drake, it became the best-selling Latin album of the year. Santos continued touring and selling out concerts over the ensuing years.

In the summer of 2017, Santos released his third solo studio album, "Golden," which was another big commercial hit. It included the singles "Héroe Favorito," "Imitadora," and "Sobredosis," among others. Santos went on the Golden Tour for the album, once again selling out Madison Square Garden for three nights. He released his fourth solo studio album, "Utopía," in 2019. For the album, he reunited with Aventura on the lead single "Immortal." On his tour for the album, Santos sold out MetLife Stadium; the concert was later released as a live album and concert film. He subsequently released the studio album "Fórmula, Vol. 3" in 2022. The album was supported by the singles "Sus Huellas" and "Sin Fin," the latter being a collaboration with Justin Timberlake. Santos went on to mount another hugely successful tour in 2023, selling out numerous venues throughout the Americas. Later in the year, "Fórmula, Vol. 3" won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Merengue/Bachata Album.

Other Media Appearances

Santos has made some brief appearances in films. In 2007, he appeared in the Dominican comedy film "Sanky Panky" alongside his band Aventura. Later, in 2015, Santos played Mando in the action film sequel "Furious 7." The year after that, he voiced the Early Bird in the animated film "The Angry Birds Movie."

Personal Life

With his longtime girlfriend, Santos has three children named Valentino, Solano, and Milano. He also has an older child named Alex from a past relationship.
