Early Life
Drew Lachey was born Andrew John Lachey on August 8, 1976, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Drew is the son of Cathalyn Fopma and John Lachey, and his brother Nick Lachey was in 98 Degrees with him. Lachey attended Clovernook Elementary School and the School for Creative and Performing Arts, and he was a camp counselor as a teenager. Drew served as combat medic in the U.S. Army and worked as an EMT in New York City.
Career
In the mid-1990s, the Lachey brothers formed 98 Degrees with Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre. They released their debut self-titled album on Motown Records in July 1997, and it reached #145 on the "Billboard" 200 chart and was certified Gold in the U.S. and 3× Platinum in Canada. The single "Invisible Man" also went Gold in the U.S., and it was a top 10 hit in Canada and New Zealand. They followed their debut with 1998's "98 Degrees and Rising," which was certified 4x Platinum in the U.S. and reached #14 on the "Billboard" 200 chart. The album featured the Gold single "The Hardest Thing" and the Platinum single "Because of You," and both singles reached the top 10 on the "Billboard" Hot 100 chart. The band's 1999 holiday album, "This Christmas," reached #27 on the "Billboard" 200 chart, and in 2000, they were featured on the Mariah Carey single "Thank God I Found You," which topped the "Billboard" Hot 100 chart.
