Career
Andrew Upton was born on February 1, 1966. He began his professional career in the late 90s in Australia, primarily working on continuity for projects such as "The Well", "Thank God He Met Lizzie", and "Babe: Pig in the City".
Andrew started to make a name for himself as a writer in the early 2000s. He went on to write such projects as the film "Gone", and the well-received original play, "Riflemind". He has also penned successful adaptations of such plays as "Hedda Gabler", "Cyrano de Bergerac", "The Cherry Orchard", "Uncle Vanya", and "The Philistines".
He also co-directed the Sydney Theater Company with Blanchett from 2008 to 2011. His work in the theater has also extended to opera, and he wrote the libretto for the opera, "Through the Looking Glass" in 2008.

Andrew and Cate are the co-founders of a production company called Dirty Films. Through Dirty Films they have produced a number of projects including "Bangers", and "Little Fish".

Andrew and Cate met in the 1990s in their native Australia. They married on December 29, 1997. They have three sons and a daughter.
Real Estate
The family's home base was in Brighton, England for ten years before they moved back to their native Australia in 2006. Upon moving to Sydney they paid $7 million for a mansion in the north shore suburbs. They subsequently spent an additional $5 million to acquire a neighboring property and then renovate the combined double lot. They listed the home for sale in September 2015 for $14.7 million. They decided to leave Australia their time as co-creative directors of the Sydney Theater Company ended in 2015. They subsequently moved to England where they paid $4 million for a home in East Sussex.
